In 1996, through a welfare program, Destinations, I came to be the housekeeper for the bed and breakfast at Cherry Point Vineyards.
1997-1998
- buffet style catering - What I was in charge of the
setup, purchasing groceries, prep cook, serving, dishes,
cleaning of all areas
Down time - working in gardens and vineyard
1999
- vineyard - full time . In the winter months bottling, labeling,
christmas baskets and catering.
2000-2003
Each year I learnt more about growing grapes along with a wide variety
of tasks construction, building maintenance, irrigation,
basic wine making

In 2004 Cowichan tribes bought Cherry Point and I became Vineyard Manager and moved on site. I was in charge of 19 acres of grapes, the spraying, and the maintenance of the vineyard.
2004 - 2008
- supervisor of a crew of 3 - 10 people, picking crew of up to 40
- maintained 34 acre premise, vineyard, gardens, picnic grounds
and all buildings
- operation and maintenance of tractors and attachments, small
motors, weedeaters and lawn mowers
- irrigation system - below and above ground lines,
filters, dripper and sprinkler attachments, pumps
- office I used word processing, spread sheets to collect data
and writing reports for various agencies
- being very safety concious I also took on maintaining and
updating of first aid boxes and fire extinguishers.
- working in the tasting room, serving wine, giving tours.
- I put Cherry Point through the Enviromental Farm Plan,
identified and corrected areas of the farm that weren't
enviromentally friendly. New double walled fuel tanks,
cement pads and proper storage for the pesticides.
By November 2008 I decided it was time to move on.

In Febuary 2009, I started at Rocky Creek Winery . Now I was in charge of 8 acres of vineyard, and was now a crew of one.
- looked after the vineyard in Chemainus (3 acres) and the
young vineyard (5 acres) at the winery site in Cowichan Bay
- maintained the entire premise (left) and improved some of the
landscaping, annual planters
- helping with bottling, labeling, events and in the tasting room, as needed
2010 - Rocky Creek Winery
- worked with a crew of 2 to install all steel posts and wires for young vines at
Rocky Creek
- added one more vineyard in Cobble Hill area to make a total of 10 acres of
vines under my care
- worked with a crew of 2 on occasion to complete vineyard tasks
- maintained the entire premise and continued improve landscaping (left)
- helped with bottling, labeling, events and in the tasting room, as needed
2012 - Urban Bella Marketing
- promoting various brands of wine in BC Liquor stores both in the Cowichan Valley and Victoria
- brands include Peller Estates, Whistler Beer, E&J Gallo
- all assignments and paperwork done through the internet
- provide a 1 ounce taste to customers along with information about the company, grape, wine,
and food pairings
